Practical test: How the Canyon Grizl 6 gravel bike rides

The equipment of the Grizl 6 shows: The strengths of the entry-level model should also lie in sporty off-road use. Canyon has fitted particularly grippy studded tyres ex works. If you still want to tackle long distances, you'll be pleased with the 2 x 10 gears with a wide gear ratio and fine gear gradation. The biggest disadvantage of the Grizl 6: At 10.7 kilos, the bike is not exactly light for a gravel bike. But you can hardly expect that for 1500 euros.

Off-road athlete in its purest form

The weight of the Grizl 6 is quickly forgotten during the ride test anyway. Everything simply fits here! The handlebar is sporty, but not too low. A little flare makes for a very comfortable position. The Canyon feels stiff when pedalling and the relatively short stem provides direct handling.

This means that the Canyon also cuts a fine figure off-road. This is also where the grippy tyres come into their own. Even easy trails are really fun with the Grizl 6, and the crisp gears and good brakes do the rest.

You read that right: Although the GRX 400 is the most affordable groupset in Shimano's gravel portfolio, it works just as well as the GRX 400. compared to the rather undefined cues but remarkably good. There are only minor criticisms. The sharp-edged Selle saddle tends to chafe cycling shorts, and the stiff aluminium frame could do with a little more suspension at the rear for more comfort. Due to its design, the Canyon without mudguards and lights is only conditionally suitable for everyday use and road traffic regulations.
