The Cago FS200 Life Family is really long, but can be controlled relatively dynamically. High-quality equipment and a good price are on the plus side. What else can it offer in practice? score points?

One thing the Cago is certainly not is a small bike. The stylish long john from Koblenz makes no secret of the fact that it is crammed full of technology. A generous 2.7 metres in overall length, almost 60 kilos ready to ride. The cargo compartment is a crash-tested passenger cell instead of a classic cargo box. The Cago is even optionally available with GPS tracker (test here) and integral brake system.

Cago FS 200: Length runs

You can't help but ask yourself: Can you still ride a bike normally? You can! Because once on the move, the well-balanced cargo bike is surprisingly dynamic and steers nimbly around tight corners once you get the hang of steering the Long-John. In addition to the older but still powerful Bosch motor and the Enviolo automatic gearbox, the low centre of gravity also helps. For example, up to two batteries can be stored in a lockable compartment underneath the cargo box. The steering is elegantly cable-operated. Due to its high weight and long wheelbase, the Cago offers good directional stability.

This is not what the bike is actually designed for, but even an adult passenger in the front of the box hardly upsets the CaGo. Even with a heavy payload, the bike is not fazed. It can easily cope with 225 kilograms. The extremely wide rear tyre (70 mm!), suspension support and suspension fork provide good comfort. However, the front end visibly twists under hard braking. We had no problem with this, but wondered whether the delicate fork could cope with this in the long term. In view of the consistently high-quality equipment with Supernova lighting, Enviolo, Magura brakes and belts, the question arises as to whether the Cago would have a target group even with full suspension.

The continuously variable Enviolo-Automatiq gearstick regulates the transmission ratio all by itself without harsh gear jumps. It couldn't be more comfortable.Photo: Georg GrieshaberThe continuously variable Enviolo-Automatiq gearstick regulates the transmission ratio all by itself without harsh gear jumps. The biggest disadvantage is the somewhat cumbersome handling when manoeuvring. Smaller people also need a lot of strength to pull the large bike onto the centre stand. Our test bike still lacked a frame lock. However, the new models come with one ex works.

BIKE summary of the FS200

The Cago is heavy and somewhat bulky, but rides well and is packed with features and high-quality technology. When it comes to safety, few can beat the Koblenz-based company. Nevertheless, the bike is not overly expensive. Also a good option for heavy loads if the storage space is not too small. - Barbara Merz-Weigandt, Editor-in-Chief MYBIKE
