The extended version of the Bordo folding lock This also makes it possible to lock several bikes or secure wider objects. The lock utilises the characteristic articulated design, which allows it to be folded up like a folding rule to save space.
The folding lock consists of six interconnected links with a bar thickness of 5.5 millimetres in a double T-profile design. This design is intended to offer stability with reduced weight. The bars are made of specially hardened steel and have a plastic coating to protect the bike's paintwork. Special rivets are used at the joints, which are additionally secured by metal discs as saw protection.
According to the manufacturer, the Abus XPlus locking cylinder offers protection against tampering attempts such as picking. The locking system is made of hardened steel. One new feature is the lock body, which can be rotated through 360 degrees. This manoeuvrability is intended to facilitate handling in tight spaces. The joint on the lock body allows flexible positioning when connecting. This extends the effective connection length by several centimetres.
The frame holder has also been redesigned. It holds the lock by applying light pressure to the bars. The lock engages securely. In addition, an integrated compartment offers space for GPS trackers such as Apple AirTag or Samsung SmartTag for tracking the bike.
The XPlus cylinder can be used to create keyed alike systems. One key can then operate several locks. Abus offers the production of further keyed alike locks or duplicate keys under the name ONE KEY. Two keys are included in the scope of delivery.
