With the new Uvex Stride Visor, the Protective clothing specialist Uvex is presenting a bicycle helmet that is specially tailored to the needs of commuters. The helmet is being launched in two versions: as a Uvex Stride Visor MIPS with additional rotation protection and as a simpler version without MIPS technology. Both models have a robust, shock-absorbing hard shell made from ABS plastic, which is designed to provide effective protection in the event of a fall.

A key feature of the new Commuter helmet is the customisable visor. The standard version is made of scratch-resistant material with protection level 1 and is equipped with a light silver mirror. According to Uvex, the visor protects against wind and weather. Users can also retrofit a clear or tinted visor as an option. A rain cover can be attached to the top of the visor if required.

Uvex Stride Visor: ventilation and fit

The Uvex Stride Visor 16 has openings for good ventilation, which are fitted with an insect net at the front. According to the manufacturer, this ensures a high level of comfort. The fit can be adjusted via an intuitive height and width adjustment. The helmet padding is made from 100 per cent recycled polyester.

The Uvex Stride Visor is available in three sizes: 53-56 centimetres, 56-59 centimetres and 59-61 centimetres. This means that the helmet covers a wide range of head circumferences. The MIPS version is available in the colours anthracite-matt, digital-lime-matt and sage-green-matt. The model without MIPS technology is available in black-matt, white-matt and stone-blue-matt.

Integrated security features

A special feature of the Uvex Stride Visor is the mount integrated into the helmet design for a Hiplok Z LOK cable binder lock. This optional accessory is intended as an immobiliser for short stops and can be stowed away completely under the ABS outer shell. For better visibility in road traffic, the helmet has reflective webbing and logo applications. A plug-in LED with two light modes is also integrated at the back of the head.

MIPS technology for additional protection

The Uvex Stride Visor MIPS version is equipped with the Multi-Directional Impact Protection System equipped. This system is designed to reduce the rotational forces that can act on the head in the event of an angled impact. According to Uvex, the MIPS technology offers additional protection that goes beyond the pure impact absorption of the hard shell.

Prices and availability

The Uvex Stride Visor MIPS is available at an RRP of 169.95 euros. The version without MIPS technology costs 139.95 euros. Both models are part of the new Uvex bike collection 2024/25. The manufacturer does not specify an exact availability date.
