The US manufacturer Ride Concepts, which has so far made a name for itself in the mountain bike shoe sector, is venturing into completely new territory for the brand with two new helmets. With the Deploy and the Dissent, the company is presenting its first head protection. According to the manufacturer, both models embody the same passion and precision that characterises Ride Concepts' footwear.
The Deploy is aimed at cross-country and trail riders who go on long tours but still need protection on technical passages. With a weight of 400 grams (size M), the bike helmet is positioned in the lightweight segment. Ride Concepts uses an in-mould construction with a three-part polycarbonate shell for the Deploy. This design is intended to ensure high stability and low weight. Special attention was paid to ventilation: The flow-thru ventilation system has 16 large air inlets and outlets, which should ensure effective cooling.
For rider safety, Ride Concepts has integrated the MIPS Evolve Core System into the Deploy. This technology is designed to reduce rotational forces in the event of an impact and thus minimise the risk of injury. The fit can be customised using the FS2 adjustment system. A multi-stage adjustable visor makes it possible to securely attach a goggle to the helmet if required. The Deploy is available in sizes S (53-56 cm), M (56-59 cm) and L (59-62 cm).
Ride Concepts has developed the Dissent for enduro, all-mountain and gravity riders. Weighing 420 grams (size M), the bike helmet is slightly heavier than the Deploy, but offers a more robust construction. The four-part shell with extended polycarbonate cover is designed to withstand even the hardest of falls. Despite the focus on protection, Ride Concepts has not neglected ventilation: 15 ventilation openings with internal channels are designed to ensure effective temperature regulation.
The Dissent is also equipped with the MIPS Evolve Core System. A magnetic Fidlock buckle on the chin strap ensures quick and safe entry and exit. The FS6 adjustment system, which is integrated into the helmet shell, enables precise adjustment of the fit. The comfort padding is equipped with X-Static XT2 silver threads, which have antibacterial properties and are designed to prevent odours. Like the Deploy, the Dissent is also available in sizes S, M and L.
Both helmets are available in different colours. The Deploy is available in the colours black, charcoal, evergreen and dune. The Dissent is available in the colours black, white and dune. With an RRP of 140 euros for the Deploy and 180 euros for the Dissent, Ride Concepts is positioning its new helmets in the mid to upper price segment.
Ride Concepts is a relatively young mountain bike shoe brand that was founded in autumn 2018. The brand is based in Truckee, California, USA. A group of bike pros (e.g. Kyle Strait and Paul B), shoe specialists from brand leader Five Ten and die-hard MTB riders founded Ride Concepts with the motto: by riders for riders. They wanted to offer high-quality and functional shoes for bikers that were precisely tailored to their needs and thus close the gap in the market that they thought they recognised.
