Every biker knows that Abus makes crack-proof locks. But helmets? So far, only very few have nodded knowingly. With the MonTrailer, this is now set to change fundamentally. The Volmarstein-based company has combined a modern, aggressive design and plenty of protection in its new enduro model.
The Montrailer comes in a classic enduro look with a low-slung helmet shell and large, height-adjustable visor. This engages noticeably and firmly when pushed upwards and also offers space for a goggle in the highest position. The visor is made of slightly transparent plastic, which is designed to give the rider a better view.
The upper shell has a high-quality appearance and has edge protection on the underside. This is intended to protect against rapid wear and tear. Five air inlets are connected to seven outlets via flow channels and are designed to ventilate the head sufficiently. The adjustment system runs completely around the head and is designed to be particularly secure. The MonTrailer leaves enough space at the rear so that a plait can also be threaded through comfortably. Thanks to the flexible suspension, there is no need for a height adjustment system. Particularly clever: the fastener is equipped with the magnetic Fidlock system. It can be opened and closed very easily and intuitively.
The MonTrailer will be available in three versions and four colours each. One classic version and two models with MIPS technology. This is known to absorb rotational forces better and thus protect the rider even better. The most expensive version, the MonTrailer Ace MIPS, is also equipped with the Swedish safety feature, has a five-part upper shell and comes with a GoPro holder.
According to the print on the helmet, the MonTrailer in size L weighs around 420 grams. This means it is no lightweight, but it joins the queue of popular enduro models. Prices start at 150 euros. The most expensive model is a whopping 200 euros.
