What's bad is when something has to happen first before the problem is addressed and remedied. Unfortunately, there are enough examples, so we won't labour the point here. Often enough, very little happens even after a tragedy. The Lazer recall is different. The helmet manufacturer has discovered that, under certain circumstances, the strap anchorage on certain models can detach from the helmet during an impact. Helmets of all sizes with CE labelling that have been on the market since January 2015 are affected (see table below). Fortunately, there have not yet been any significant accidents, so the affected helmets will be recalled immediately and replaced with improved models.
Owners of affected helmets are asked to contact the dealer from whom they purchased the helmet. The replacement helmets labelled Blade+ and Magma+ (pictured above) have a new strap anchorage designed in accordance with the prescribed standards. They have CE approval and can be recognised by the fact that their article numbers end in "081" or "181". A white sticker with the model name, article number and size can be found inside the helmet.
