Laboratory values are good, practical values are better. I did a crash test with the Ambush on my second ride - involuntarily, of course. Super shock absorber, the head remained intact.

A step-up, a tree, a wrong approach line - bam! It had already happened. The polystyrene structure (EPS) broke. That's the way it has to be when the impact forces are too strong. This is how the crumple zone protects the head. Of course (!) I hadn't activated the angi emergency sensor. In activated mode, it sends an emergency text message on impact if the biker is no longer responsive as a result of the accident. If the biker does not respond, the next text message is sent to a specified emergency contact including GPS data. Clever!

Afterwards, I simulated this and convinced myself of the function. It works! Even when you're not falling, the helmet is very comfortable to wear. The weight is great (292 g). Incidentally, the helmet also impressed in the laboratory with the best damping values.

WEAKNESSES None

Conclusion: Lightweight helmet with a good fit and very good damping values. Top! We also liked the look with the stylish adjustable visor.

Born in South Baden, Laurin Lehner is, by his own admission, a lousy racer. Maybe that's why he is fascinated by creative, playful biking. What counts for him is not how fast you get from A to B, but what happens in between. Lehner writes reports, interviews scene celebrities and tests products and bikes - preferably those with a lot of suspension travel.
