We liked the fit straight away. The 14 ventilation openings in the helmet provide sufficient cooling - but normal open-face helmets are more airy.

Can you still remember the thick jackets from Helly Hansen? Back in the late 90s? The new Tyrant made me think of exactly those jackets. Because the marketing strategy seems similar. Back then, trendy MTV rappers wore the turnaround jackets and triggered a fashion hype. Giro didn't hire rappers, but stylomats Josh "Ratboy" Bryceland, Vero Sandler and Loosedog - and the strategy worked. Because we also wanted to try out the helmet. We liked the fit straight away. The 14 ventilation openings in the helmet provide sufficient cooling - but normal open-face helmets are more airy. The adjustment wheel at the back of the head is easy to use and the pads can be removed for washing. We first had to get used to the Playmobil helmet look, but then we liked it. Great: the helmet provides more protection than conventional open-face helmets. Disadvantage: the high weight of 622 grams.

STRENGTHS Protects more than ordinary open-face helmets, comfortable to wear, adjustable visor

WEAKNESSES heavy

Conclusion: comfortable helmet, but heavy. The extravagant look remains a matter of taste.
