Smith's Forefront stands out from the crowd. The enduro helmet looks like it was designed for the Stormtroopers from Star Wars.

But the Americans have also come up with some ideas for the material. The honeycomb structure known as Koroyd is said to absorb impacts up to 30 per cent more effectively than conventional EPS foams and improve ventilation in particular. The somewhat narrow shell sits very comfortably and wobble-free on the head and is actually surprisingly well ventilated. The helmet ring can be adjusted extensively, and the rubberised dial is also finely graduated and easy to operate.
