5 helmet cameras in a quick check
When prodigy biker Danny MacAskill puts a helmet camera on his helmet, spectacular film footage is guaranteed - this is not always the case for amateur bikers.

FREERIDE tested five helmet cameras and a useful adapter - here are the ratings from the quick check:

1 Top dog: GoPro Hero 5
The GoPro Hero 5 is the latest baby from the US manufacturer. It makes crisp, high-resolution recordings in 4K and works with simple two-button operation. New: you can start and stop recording using voice control. A special app makes editing easier.

Price: 330 euros, gopro.com

2 Economiser: Qumox SJ4000
The Qumox SJ4000 is a real bargain. For just over 60 euros, you get a camera that can certainly keep up with the well-known brands in terms of features and workmanship. In test forums, the SJ4000 is crowned the price-performance winner. Practical: The Qumox can be attached with Go-Pro accessories. Shortcoming: The battery life is mediocre.

3 All-round shower: Nikon Key Mission 360
A 170-degree angle of view is not enough for the camera giant. The Nikon Key Mission 360 has two lenses and thus creates a 360-degree panoramic view. Wow - that's impressive! For all the Jaques Cousteaus among you: The camera can also dive to a depth of 30 metres. You and the great white shark will fit in the picture.

4 Lateral entrants: TomTom Bandit
The former specialist for car navigation now also offers an action cam with the Bandit. In addition to all the necessary features such as 4K quality, the Bandit boasts a very long battery life. However, according to reputable test forums, the video and photo quality cannot keep up with the top cams.

5 Winner type: Sony FDR-X1000VR and FDR-X3000R
According to Stiftung Warentest, Sony action cams are among the best on the market. The HDR-AS50 is the entry-level model from the Japanese company. Only the more expensive Sony models FDR-X1000VR and FDR-X3000R received better overall marks.

6 Tiny: Angle adapter for helmet mounting from MyMount
No, this is not a mini camera, but an example of a useful accessory. With this bracket, action cams can be discreetly mounted under the visor instead of on the helmet in the stupid Teletubbie look.

Price: 16 euros, mymount.de
