If you want to travel by plane with your bike, you need to pack it safely.

Special bike bags/cases

If you want to travel with your bike, it is best to pack it carefully. The minimum option prescribed by most airlines is: cardboard box, handlebars turned 90 degrees and pedals removed. This is often the only practical solution for fully equipped trekking bikes with mudguards and lights (see Trekkingbike 6/2007). There are special bike bags/cases for cross or fitness bikes and mountain bikes.
