The modern wheelbases are also too long for the old 26-inch bike travel bags. That's why we also had to buy the new Evoc Bag Pro. The longest bag that the Bavarian protector specialist has in its programme. Evoc is pushing the airline guidelines to the limit. Our Specialized Demo 29 big bike with a wheelbase of just under 1300 millimetres just fits in there. More bad than good, because we couldn't use the axle mount on the aluminium rail - too short! The wheels, on the other hand, can be easily stowed in the side compartments. Handling is also very good in other respects. The limit for sports luggage on most airlines is 30 kilos. With a tare weight of 10.5 kilos, you can't fit much more than the bike. After stowing the big bike (17 kilos), we had just 2.5 kilos left - enough for shoes, pads, pedals and a few inner tubes. In short: If you have a particularly long bike (wheelbase greater than 1300 mm), you should think twice about buying this bag. You'll have to do a lot of stuffing (deflate the fork, etc.). Tip: test pack in the shop. Weight: 10.5 kg
Price 595 Euro >> e.g. at Maciag Offroad or Mountain time available
Plus Quality, workmanship; handling
Minus Price; wheelbase up to max. 1300 mm
Conclusion Good quality, sensible bag management. But beware: bikes with a long wheelbase only fit in the bag with a lot of fiddling.
