Specialised and Fjällräven have developed a cycle touring collection. The casual products invite you to cycle straight from work into nature.

With Specialized and Fjällräven, two companies come together and thus two countries, different cultures and different time zones. In times of the global pandemic, a joint collection has been developed - The Great Nearby. The products in the collection are designed to motivate people to get out into nature. To this end, pannier bags, bikepacking bags and clothing from head to toe have been created. The new collection is available at Sport Schuster or Mountain friends available.

But first from the beginning.

The Great Nearby: Fjällräven X Specialised

With the partnership between Specialized and Fjällräven, products designed for performance meet timeless design and sustainable function for the outdoors. The collaboration between the Californian bike company Specialized and the Swedish outdoor brand Fjällräven is no coincidence: Specialized's product designer Erik Nohlin is originally from Sweden. It is clear that there is an (emotional) connection to Fjällräven. The long-term partnership under the name "The Great Nearby" brings together outdoor and trekking expertise from Fjällräven with bicycle innovations from Specialized. The aim is to get more people enthusiastic about cycling while treating people, animals and nature responsibly.

Out of the city, into nature

More and more people are living in cities, and it is predicted that two thirds of the world's population will be living in cities by 2050. This makes it all the more important for both companies to create opportunities to reconnect with nature.

"It is crucial that people get closer to nature instead of moving away from it. They need to recognise and appreciate the world's ecosystems, climate and delicate balance and actively work towards a better future." Henrik Andersson, Global Creative Director, Fjällräven

"Nothing is more real, nothing is purer and more important than the connection with nature. Nature is the best medicine there is and we should never take it for granted - it needs to be appreciated more." Erik Nohlin, Industrial Design Leader Specialised

What about bikepacking bags?

Gravel bikers and bike travellers who want details of the bikepacking collection from Fjällräven and Specialized will have to wait a little longer. The part of The Great Nearby designed for the adventure around the next corner will not be released until 18 May.

But if you look closely, you can already recognise the first products in the bikepacking line: such as various bags for the seat post, handlebars or top tube, as well as a frame bag and a stem bag for snacks and other items.
