With the Senja, Mont Blanc Group presents an inflatable cargo box that has been specially developed for towbar bike carriers. The system utilises dropstitch material, which is also used for SUP boards and inflatable boats. This construction combines vertical fibres between two reinforced polyester layers and enables high internal pressure with low material consumption. The Senja weighs 11.5 kg and has a load capacity of 48 kg, which is enough for camping equipment, sports gear or shopping.
The inflatable structure reduces the transport volume by a factor of four compared to rigid roof boxes. When inflated, the Senja measures 172 x 74 x 51 centimetres and offers 300 litres of storage space. When folded, it shrinks to 74 x 38 x 27 cm and a packing size of 76 litres. This compactness allows it to be stored under the bed or in the wardrobe.
The Senja works with all standard towbar bike carriers. These include Mont Blanc's own Sarek, Atera Genio Pro Advanced, various Norauto Efit models (200-3, 300-2) and Peruzzo Pure Instinct 2. Thule systems such as E-flexy, Easyfold (XT/XTF 2 and 3), Euroway G2 (3) and Velocompact (3) are also compatible. Westfalia BC (60/80) and BikeLander (LED/3) as well as Towcar models (TR2, TR3) also support Senja mounting.
It is attached using the existing carrier system without additional adapters. The rear mounting position improves aerodynamics compared to roof boxes, as there is less air resistance. This reduces the fuel consumption of combustion engines and increases the range of electric vehicles.
The Senja is supplied with an electric air pump, repair kit and lockable zip system. It only takes a few minutes to set up: Unroll the box, connect the pump, inflate and mount on the bike rack. The dropstitch material achieves a stable, box-shaped structure without sagging when fully inflated.
Regina Abduramanovski, CEO of Mont Blanc Group, describes the concept: "Senja is more than a product, it reflects how we want to live and move in a more sustainable world. We have created something that is practical, beautiful and environmentally responsible." The lockable zip system secures the contents against theft. In case of damage, the included repair kit allows for quick mending on the go.
The inflatable design reduces material consumption and shipping volume by 75 per cent compared to rigid alternatives. This significantly reduces transport emissions from production to the customer. The materials used can be separated at the end of their life and recycled, which further improves the environmental footprint.
Younick Portal adds: "We designed Senja to be intuitive, robust and suitable for transporting everything from camping equipment to food. It's so easy to use that you can be up and running in minutes - that's what we call 'easy go'. It's a new benchmark in cargo innovation." The Dropstitch technology originates from water sports and offers years of durability with regular use.
Mont Blanc Group is now selling the Senja via montblancgroup.com with direct shipping to Sweden and France. A growing dealer network throughout Europe stocks the product both in shops and on e-commerce platforms. The product is delivered in a compact transport bag with all accessories.
The Senja is aimed at cyclists who need flexible storage space for tours, holidays or everyday use. The combination of low weight, high load capacity and compact storage makes it an alternative to conventional roof boxes. E-car drivers in particular benefit from the improved aerodynamics and reduced energy consumption thanks to the rear mounting position.
