In a collaborative project and based on Centurion's designs, the engineers at the bicycle safety expert Trelock have developed an extremely delicate and at the same time innovative Rear light and made it ready for series production. They are designing a customised rear light that is integrated into the luggage rack and is intended to adorn the rear of e-mountainbikes and e-trekking bikes thanks to its particularly bright and smart light structure.
The main challenge was to design a rear light that produces a very homogeneous light effect on the one hand and fits into a very narrow light frame on the other. In addition, a seamless integration into the luggage rack interface had to be created - while at the same time conforming to the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO) and at a competitive price.
Not an easy task, but one that was mastered by Trelock engineers in the in-house lighting laboratory: The light integrated into the luggage rack impresses above all with its light signature, which emphasises the rear profile of the Centurion e-bikes with a particularly bright and visually seamless red light strip. "The advanced COB technology, which we have already launched on the market in a separate line, has been trimmed for efficiency and homogeneity with a new type of electronics and innovative lens material.
The new rear light thus proves that high demands on light signature and light intensity do not have to be at odds with energy efficiency. This ensures a stylish, safe and long ride on the e-bike," says Ralf Northoff, GPS Lights Engineering Manager at Trelock. Jens Fingerle, Innovation Manager at Centurion, is also delighted with the result: "In Trelock, we have found the perfect partner to realise our integrative lighting design. Trelock's great expertise enabled us to realise an unmistakable light signature that makes our Centurion bikes even more unique."
In addition to the striking design, the focus was equally on safety, as the integrated side lighting ensures 360-degree visibility of the cyclist in traffic. The rear light integrated into the Centurion "SNAPIT 2.0 DELUXE" luggage carrier will initially be installed in the new 2022 "Numinis" and "Lhasa" models and ensures that these e-MTBs are equipped with stylish lighting that is suitable for everyday use. Further bikes equipped with the stylish and functional light carrier are set to follow in the future.
