The Wicked from the young mail-order company YT Industries is the company's first all-mountain bike and is definitely one of the downhillers in this test field. Apart from a carbon hardtail, the YT product range has focussed exclusively on the gravity sector, which is increasingly changing. With a slack head angle, great cockpit and decent suspension travel for all-mountain conditions, the Wicked presents a very harmonious, fun-orientated picture.
Downhill, the YT impresses with perfect handling, while the sensitive rear suspension sticks to the ground with confidence and remains surprisingly calm even when pedalling hard. Uphill, the moderately rolling Maxxis Ignitor tyres make for a somewhat sluggish climb. Despite thru-axles on the front and rear wheels, the frame stiffness we measured was low. However, we couldn't complain about a lack of stiffness when riding.
At 3425 grams including the shock, the Wicked frame is the heaviest in the test. The equipment with large brake discs and high-quality fork is at a good level overall, but only has a 9-speed drivetrain.
PLUS Driving characteristics 117 mm
