The testers rubbed their eyes at the Votec. Déjà vu: wasn't this bike just tested? That's right, it's been nine months, but the 2015 version of the VX Elite rolls into the lab almost unchanged.

Only the frame finish, cranks (carbon!) and wheels (lighter) differ from last year's model, and the tyres have also grown in width. Why change a good concept? We also believe that annual model changes are not necessary. As in the test a year ago, we turned the stem to "Sport" and were pleased with the good riding position, including a comfortable saddle and responsive uphill propulsion. The fork and shock work hard and soak up every pebble. If this bothers you, you can switch on the platform. The bike also makes a harmonious impression downhill, even if the fork does not fully release the suspension travel. The powerful brakes anchor on command.

ConclusionImpeccable riding characteristics and the exceptionally high-quality equipment speak in favour of the VX Elite. This leads to the test victory on points.

PLUS Suitable choice of tyres, very well thought-out and high-quality equipment, lightweight wheels, five frame sizes
MINUS Heavy frame, special bottle cage required

The alternative Alternatively, there is the more affordable VX Pro version (2499 euros) with a Shimano XT groupset. A little less luxury, but the bike retains its versatile character.
