Luxury equipment at an affordable price, plus a sporty suspension set-up. Votec is aimed at marathon racers and Transalp fans.

How does Votec do it? You ask yourself when you see the V.MR. The price tag and spec form big question marks: A well-constructed chassis, DT carbon wheels and SRAM XX groupset for € 3999 seem almost outrageously cheap. The sum of the individual parts would be significantly more expensive in the shops. The answer: Votec calculates razor-sharp in order to establish the brand in the scene and is certainly a buying tip for sharp calculators. The hydroformed aluminium frame looks very classic. The chassis weighs three kilos with shock - one kilo more than Scott. Votec says: Durability and stability take precedence over lightweight construction. The rear works inconspicuously and goes uphill even without a platform. Up front, the V.MR is the only bike in the test group to offer a lowerable Rock Shox fork - certainly an advantage for long climbs such as crossing the Alps. The handlebar lockout will delight marathon racers. Uphill, the bike is race-like, downhill the steering feels wobbly and the front-heavy handling prevents it from scoring full points. Caution: size 45 shoes rub against the seat stay with every pedal stroke. The wheels were softly spoked.
