Less is more, as the saying goes Trek for the upcoming mountain bike season. For a clearer line, the US manufacturer is streamlining its wheel and therefore model diversity for the Fuel EX and Remedy. Both were previously available in 27.5 and 29 inch versions, each with its own frame. From now on, the Trek Remedy will only roll on 27.5-inch wheels. The Fuel EX will also only have one frame, although it can accommodate 29 and 27.5 plus wheels.
To compensate for the gap left by the 29er Remedy, the travel of the Fuel EX increases from 120 to 130 millimetres at the rear. Depending on the wheel size, a 140 mm (27.5 Plus) or 130 mm fork is used to compensate for the bottom bracket height.
With a 1.5 degree slacker head angle, a longer reach and more suspension travel, the Fuel EX is much more trail-orientated. Even on technical trails, the beefed-up bike ensures a high level of safety and riding enjoyment.
There have also been some changes to the shape of the frame and the details. All new Fuel EX and Remedy models have a completely straight and therefore stiffer down tube. To prevent the fork crown from colliding with the down tube, the new bikes come with the Knock Block steering lockout limiter. A total of seven 29ers, three 27.5-Plus and three women's models are planned, which will be available from July.
Unfortunately, 29er fans will have to do without an update to the new Remedy. The new platform comes exclusively in 27.5 inches, but the rear triangle has been pumped up from 140 to 150 millimetres. In addition to the new details that have already been used on the Fuel EX, the Remedy, which has already gone through many identities, has been given a slightly more aggressive look.
With a 150 mm fork, the steering angle is already between 66 and 66.5 degrees. Enduro riders should also take note, as the Remedy will also be available in two Race Shop Limited versions with a 160 mm fork. A bike that we will certainly be seeing at races.
The seven available Remedy models (three carbon, four aluminium) range in price from 2499 to 7999 euros. Women have also been catered for with two special models. The RE:aktiv damper technology, which was originally developed with Fox and is designed to keep the rear suspension quiet and only opens when necessary, has now also been integrated into Rock Shox shocks.
