130 millimetres of travel is the end of the BMC model range. Since last year, the Swiss company has only been selling bikes with more travel through its new sister brand Scor. The motto of the newcomers - Play the Mountain - could not be better formulated for the Scor 4060 ST.

With the geometry of the Scor 4060 ST, the Swiss hit the mark. The combination of a long reach with a very steep seat angle places the rider comfortably in the centre of the saddle, yet with a forward drive. The perfect starting position for technical uphill manoeuvres. The weight of 14.2 kilos is acceptable for an all-mountain bike in this suspension travel class. Due to the low anti-squat, the rear suspension bobs uphill, but the excellent response behaviour generates traction en masse. The extremely versatile frame platform is top of the range. The steering angle can be adjusted by 1.5 degrees with an oval bearing shell. A flip chip on the shock mount primarily influences the bottom bracket height, while the suspension travel remains almost identical (on the Scor 4060 ST, ST stands for Short Travel, LT for Long Travel). It is also possible to ride the bike with a 27.5 mm rear wheel.

Our tests were carried out with a slack steering angle and in the ST setting. Downhill, the Scor 4060 leaves a lasting impression as a true handling miracle. Playful, precise and uncomplicated. That's how you could summarise the character of the Scor. Thanks to the sensitive rear triangle with plenty of travel and the high-quality Pike fork, the ride feels full-bodied even at high speeds. When jumping or actively changing direction, the rear still offers sufficient counter-pressure.

Conclusion from Max Fuchs, BIKE test editor:

"The price is high, but the fun factor of the Scor 4060 is even higher. Although Scor sent the most expensive bike to the test, it gave us the most fun off-road. The testers only really criticised the dirt-prone rear triangle construction."
