The suffix E:i reveals that the fresh carbon fibre Frenchman is electrified.

The damper receives signals about the road conditions via a sensor on the fork and reacts accordingly in automatic mode with firm damping or full sensitivity. This happens flawlessly, quickly and reliably, which is why four out of five readers welcome the electric support. If you don't trust the system, you can override it manually at any time, even if the feel of the switch was criticised by one of the readers. While some had no problems with the extremely long seat stays (190 millimetres), for others the bike was only rideable with permanent heel contact. Otherwise, the Zesty has well-balanced handling, sensitive suspension and, thanks to its slim weight, it climbed to first place in the readers' uphill rankings.

ConclusionSporty all-rounder with a well-functioning automatic shock and fine handling. The rear triangle is too wide for many riders.

PLUS Good chassis with carefree automatic transmission, low overall weight
MINUS Rear triangle too wide, either battery or water bottle, no telescopic support

The alternative
If you prefer not to have electronics on your bike, you can get the same model for 500 euros less without the E:i Shock. The Zesty TR 529 model, which is cheaper overall, also has a carbon frame.
