The Stevens Fluent is a lightweight marathon athlete for heavy riders. The ride comfort is moderate.

Stevens doesn't hide its racing pedigree on the Fluent either: long stem, steep head angle (70 degrees) and with a total weight of 12.75 kilos one tyre width ahead of most of its competitors. Hardtail riders will be delighted with the extremely firm X-Fusion shock: This saves the lockout on climbs. However, with our 75 kilos we were not able to tease out the full travel on the downhill either. However, the shock specially tuned for Stevens should be a good choice, especially for heavy riders. The agile, almost nervous steering and the fast Mountain King tyres demand full concentration and precise steering commands from the rider on the downhill. Looking upwards: The Fluent SX for € 1999 plays in a different league with Fox suspension and lightweight Easton wheels.

ConclusionLightweight marathon athlete for heavy riders. Moderate ride comfort.

The high breakaway torque makes the X-Fusion shock, which was specially customised for Stevens, initially very stiff. The Reba fork is not as sensitive as the Recon, but has more potential for rough terrain.Photo: BIKE Magazin The flat characteristics are very close to each other in the diagram, but in practice the fork works much better than the rear end.
