Stevens E-Whaka+ on test
The E-Whaka is the only bike in this price range to use the new Shimano motor. And so all the stops were pulled out to utilise the compact installation space of the unit.

At 434 millimetres, this bike has the shortest chainstays of all E-MTBs ever tested. On the one hand, this results in extremely agile handling. On the other hand, the climbing characteristics suffer. The E-Whaka rears up much earlier than the competition. This makes it difficult to make the most of the powerful acceleration and sensitive characteristics of the motor. On descents, you benefit from the long reach and slack angles. There are also no complaints when it comes to equipment: Vario seat post, capable fork and good add-on parts.

Conclusion: With its modern geometry, the E-Whaka overshoots the mark somewhat. Nevertheless: a good trail bike with downhill qualities.
