Curtain up for the trendsetter: The Stumpjumper FSR Elite is the top model in the aluminium range and is equipped with everything you need for the trail according to the Specialized product managers. Dual cranks with bashguard, chain guide, XTR rear derailleur with chain tensioner, remote-controlled telescopic dropper post, 200 mm front brake disc. The Brain suspension strut with the new Autosag function is designed to make tuning easier. To put it simply: pump it up, sit on it, open the pressure relief valve - done. Subjectively, the rear suspension is firmer than necessary with this method. However, if you tune it too softly, the rear end rocks noticeably when pedalling. In terms of riding characteristics, a Stumpjumper has never left the rider out in the rain. The riding position and geometry are almost perfect, we lowered the cockpit (distance rings removed) and rode the Brain system fairly open. Downhill, the bike finds its own lane, length runs, you just have to hold on to the handlebars, confidence is not disappointed. One more thing: The 38/24 gear ratio at the front is suboptimal, every jump to the 24-speed gear has to be countered with a lot of equalising gears at the rear.
PLUS Riding characteristics, well thought-out equipment, good telescopic support
MINUS Heavy wheels
Conclusion: colourful all-rounder for tough trails. A real fun bike, equipped with clever details.
