Countless revolutions and evolutions have made the Stumpi what it is: an all-rounder with balanced geometry. The FSR Comp is the most affordable model in the Specialized range, which is why the equipment is more solid than exuberant. This makes the 29er one of the heavier bikes in the comparison. The wheels in particular weigh in at a hefty 5419 grams and weigh a good 700 grams more than the class average, which is clearly noticeable during short sprints and on climbs. In downhill mode, however, the heavy tyres provide a lot of control and the rear suspension also offers decent reserves. The shortcoming of the suspension is the inexpensive Rockshox Revelation RL, which can't keep up with either a Fox Performance or Rockshox Pike fork. Due to the high front end, it makes sense to rotate the stem. The Stumpi is relatively short for a size L bike. Compared to the Rose and Cube, the Stumpjumper is the lightest on the rear wheel thanks to its moderate chainstay length.
Conclusion: Heavy wheels and a somewhat wooden fork slow the Stumpi down, which is why its full potential is not fully realised.
The alternative: The Comp Carbon with aluminium rear triangle costs 3999 euros and comes with a Rockshox Yari fork and Sram GX drivetrain.
