We voted the "best bike in the world" in BIKE 11/11 -> the Stumpjumper 29 in the S-Works version. It will be interesting to see how the 3000 euro cheaper but 1.3 kilo heavier version performs. The Expert Carbon comes armed to the teeth: telescopic seatpost, double cranks with bashguard, chain guide - this is how an all-mountain bike should be, the product managers have achieved their goal. However, the gear group is not luxurious. The carbon chassis is exceptionally light, but moderately stiff. While we really like the geometry (central riding position on the bike, precise steering), the high cockpit is annoying, the stem has to be lowered, just changing the angle is not enough. Thanks to the steep seat angle, the Stumpjumper climbs very nimbly and scores 5.5 points. The same score on the descents, where you'll be pleased with the excellent control: the bike does what the rider wants. In all-mountain use, the suspension works excellently and provides feedback. Only the competitors from Trek, Rotwild or Intense have more reserves.
Conclusion: can do everything except racing. The Stumpjumper 29 inspires all those who love difficult terrain.
PLUS Top riding characteristics, clever equipment, wide range of applications
MINUS Narrow rear tyre
