You can't underestimate a guy like John McClane. Neither should the addition of EVO on the camber.

Bruce Willis as John McClane in "Die Hard": The guy can take a beating like no other and keeps his tongue in his cheek. McClane is notoriously underestimated by his opponents. At first glance, he still seems like a peaceful cop. Just like the Camber. In view of its touring-orientated base (standard: 110 mm travel), you wouldn't expect it to conquer terror with unwavering aplomb.

Compared to the normal Camber, however, our test EVO rolls off-road with GSG-9 equipment: it has one centimetre more travel (thanks to longer seat stays with Evo-Link), the stiff Pike fork, single crankset, grippy mixed tyres and the telescopic seat post. And of course the SWAT kit. The Camber remains responsive and agile thanks to its low weight; the carbon chassis and wheels weigh very little. The noticeable difference in the saddle is greater than the Evo tuning would suggest. After all, the Specialized 29er geometry has long been as legendary as the "Die Hard" film series. It fits perfectly, the bike is balanced, stable right up to the limits and doesn't puzzle the rider. It's amazing how potent a 120cc suspension can be when all the dials are set to fun. Ridden at 1.6 bar, the tyres show significantly more grip than on the standard Camber. Nevertheless, it remains a classically balanced touring fully. Of course, it is not a racer. Even John McClane can't do everything.

Conclusion The Evo suffix turns the Camber into a fun machine. The effective chassis and uncomplicated handling are totally convincing.

PLUS Great driving characteristics, well thought-out equipment (SWAT kit)
MINUS Moderate braking force
