The new KIBO is not the only bike from Simplon to offer a modular system that enables various equipment packages and customisation options. The tourer with aluminium main frame and carbon rear triangle and rocker only weighs 12.55 kilos, making it one of the lighter bikes in the test field. Despite the precise 120 millimetre rear suspension, the KIBO has a very lively and therefore sensitive chassis, which feels like more travel. A plus in terms of downhill potential. A certain amount of pumping when pedalling is the downside of the sensitive rear suspension and underlines the touring orientation. With the handlebars pulled upwards, the front end is relatively high in a relaxed riding position. Thanks to the 74 mm seat angle, the Simplon still climbs well. Downhill, the wide cockpit offers good control with a relatively steep steering angle. The brake line routed in the chainstay looks good, but drives mechanics crazy when it comes to replacing the brakes.
ConclusionSensitive, well-balanced tourer with comfortable suspension and low overall weight.
PLUS Low total weight, modular system
MINUS Chassis pumps when pedalling
