Simplon brings the latest manufacturing technology to the all-mountain class. The suspension set-up determines the performance.

Simplon made a name for itself in 2008 with state-of-the-art carbon fibre production. Now the Austrians are taking the plunge with their first all-mountain chassis made from carbon fibre. The new "Dozer" utilises the technology that has proven itself on the "Stomp" and "Razorblade" race bikes ("Triple Fusion Technology"). Simplon presents the state of the art in the 1.5/1.125-inch head tube, low weight and stiffness. The elaborately manufactured "Dozer" clearly wins the STW classification. At the rear, Simplon has developed a "VPP" system with a virtual pivot point, which works completely without pedal kickback, but does have a tendency to bob. Chain tension activates the suspension, the air pressure in the shock becomes the most important adjustment wheel. The SAG indicator on the seat tube shows the required negative suspension travel; we rode best in the minimum position, i.e. with a lot of pressure. This brings composure, but costs suspension travel. If you ride too softly, the rear end works hard. There's nothing to criticise about the equipment, thanks to the modular system, every customer can choose their desired combination. The Magura brakes with their moderate performance and narrow levers were not impressive, wider tyres would suit the "Dozer" even better.

TUNING TIP: Set dampers to minimum SAG against rocking.

CONCLUSION: Simplon brings the latest manufacturing technology to the all-mountain class. The suspension set-up determines the performance.
