With the "Contessa Spark", Scott is making the technology of its super-light carbon competition bike "Spark" accessible to ambitious women. Compared to the competition, the differences to the men's model are manageable apart from the pink colour accents and the slightly shorter stem. In short: there are no differences as far as the frame is concerned. The geometry is the same, the standover height is the same and so is the size designation. But why change anything? Our three testers liked the sporty geometry paired with the discreetly feminine look. The Scott, which weighs just 11.15 kilos, was inundated with comments ranging from "the bike rides itself" to "goes off like a rocket" - although at a price of 3,900 euros, you can expect a lot. But the "Contessa Spark" is not only at the forefront on climbs. Thanks to the wide cockpit, the solid tyres and the secure handling, it also cuts a fine figure downhill. Only a little more travel at the front - 120 millimetres instead of just 100 millimetres - would harmonise even better with the rear triangle. Incidentally, the remarkably low stiffness of the frame of only 46.46 Nm° (compare Canyon 82.14 Nm°) didn't bother any of the testers, who weigh less than 65 kilos.
CONCLUSIONThe sportiest lady's bike in the test impresses with its lightweight carbon frame, high-quality equipment and powerful propulsion. The downhill qualities are also at a high level. But: not for those on a tight budget.
TUNING TIP: A slightly longer fork would suit the rear triangle even better.
