Rotwild R.C2 Edition
Luxury tourer for marathons and difficult terrain. The balanced handling is impressive.

Rotwild has restructured its all-mountain range. This season, the 140 models are called R.X (see BIKE 1/10->), the 120cc All-Mountains are called R.C. The number behind it stands for the frame material (2 = carbon, 1 = aluminium). The tested R.C2 Edition is the spearhead, the flagship with the top equipment and already looks elegantly made at first glance. The cables run in a channel under the down tube, the top tube offers a large standover height. The four-link suspension, newly designed for 2009, weighs a reasonable 2.7 kilos and the stiffness is acceptable.

The forward-facing riding position (steep seat angle, long stem) is immediately pleasing on the ascent of the test lap, you experience very good power transfer, the suspension works free of drive influences. However, the rear doesn't respond as sensitively as some of its competitors and feels sporty and firm. Nevertheless, you feel safe on downhills, you can hit high speeds and the limit range is high. The Continental tyres are a good choice for the range of use, and there's nothing to complain about in terms of the spec for the price. The precision of the XTR drivetrain (shifting down two gears at once) is a pleasure.
