The Rose Root Miller gets a facelift. The travel of the 29-inch trail bike has been increased from 130 to 140 millimetres compared to the current model. Rose has also given its Root Miller a 1.5 degree slacker head angle and the reach has increased by 15 mm. The longer main frame is compensated for by a ten millimetre shorter stem (from 60 to 50 millimetres). Thanks to the Boost standard, the wheels can easily be changed from 29 inch (photo above) to 27.5 Plus. The frame is compatible with both dimensions. According to Rose, a second wheelset will be offered at a reduced price.
Otherwise, the Rose engineers have mainly worked on more attractive detail solutions. The internal routing of the shift cables and brake lines has been optimised, frame protection against stone chips has been integrated into the down tube and the bearings on the rear triangle have been enlarged. A new shock absorber in the new metric dimension calms the rear triangle. For easier maintenance, Rose has retained the proven BSA thread standard.
The Granite Chief is also getting a makeover. As with the Root Miller, there is a new cable routing, the Boost standard and the metric shock. Unlike the Root Miller, it rolls exclusively on "simple" 27.5-inch wheels, but provides 150 millimetres of suspension travel.
Both models should be available from autumn 2016.
