With the wide Plus rollers and 140 or 130 millimetres of travel, the Slide Plus is right in the middle of the all-mountain segment: it climbs solidly and also offers added safety on descents.

Despite its balanced handling, it loses out to the Cube and Scott on the descents. Due to the rather steep steering angle, it is not one of the smoothest bikes on fast and steep sections. Full control is provided by the powerful Magura MT5 brakes, which keep the bike under control at all times. The well-designed cockpit with wide handlebars and short stem also fits the bill. The Fox 34 with FIT4 cartridge works very sensitively and trumps the rear triangle by 10 millimetres of travel. On the climbs, the mail-order bike shows good propulsion, the weight is very good in a class comparison and the rear tyre with a harder rubber compound keeps the rolling resistance low. The suspension only bobs a little and is trimmed for efficiency, but the fork and shock can still be completely neutralised via the platform. We would have liked a larger frame for our test.

ConclusionBalanced tourer with good climbing characteristics. Lightweight and typically well equipped.

The alternative: The SlidePlus 8.0 is already available for 2599 euros. Instead of Fox, it has Rockshox suspension and a Sram NX drivetrain.
