After the eOne-Sixty SL (test here) and the eOne-Eighty Merida presents the ETMO, its third E-MTB with a Bosch motor. The new all-mountain model will be the most affordable version with a Bosch motor in Merida's range. The aluminium frame is based on the design of the eOne-Eighty, but has been adapted for a different area of use. With 160 mm suspension travel at the front and rear, the ETMO lies between classic trail bikes and full-blown enduro bikes. The ETMO is also available as a moderate version with 140 mm suspension travel.
Merida relies on two Bosch drives for the ETMO. The Performance Line CX delivers 100 Nm torque and 750 W peak power. The more favourable Performance Line PX achieves 90 Nm torque and 700 W peak power. The battery capacity is either 600 or 800 Wh. The larger 800 Wh battery requires a larger battery cover. Owners of a 600 Wh battery can purchase this cover separately if they wish to switch to the 800 Wh battery.
The cheaper models use the Purion 200 display. It shows the assistance level, battery status and other information. The Bosch eBike Flow app can be used via Bluetooth. The more expensive models are equipped with the Purion 400 display, which is located on the inside of the handlebars. It is combined with the wireless Mini Remote, which is mounted near the handlebars.
Merida draws on its experience in frame construction to create an aluminium frame with as few welds as possible. The integrated battery mount does not require a separate mounting rail, which allows for a slimmer down tube. The rear triangle works with larger lever ratios. Lighter riders should be able to utilise the entire suspension travel, while heavier riders receive sufficient support. The kinematics allow the use of coil shocks. Maintenance should be simplified thanks to standard components: SRAM UDH derailleur hanger, standard headset and Boost axle spacing are all part of the equipment. The maximum system weight is 140 kg.
The ETMO uses mixed wheels with 29-inch front and 27.5-inch rear tyres. The steering angle is 65 degrees, half a degree steeper than the eOne-Eighty. The seat angle is 78.5 degrees and is designed to shift the weight forwards when riding uphill. The chainstays measure 446 mm, significantly longer than the 435 mm of the eOne-Eighty. This promises more stability on steep climbs. Merida offers four frame sizes: Short, Mid, Long and XLong and also approves the bike for use in difficult terrain and occasional bike park adventures in accordance with ASTM 4.
Merida offers the ETMO in four main variants. The ETMO 800 combines the Bosch Performance Line CX with the 800 Wh battery and Marzocchi suspension. The ETMO 700 also uses the CX motor, but with the 600 Wh battery and favourable Rockshox suspension elements (Psylo Silver fork). The ETMO 500 Pro uses the CX motor with an 800 Wh battery and Suntour suspension. Here, the suspension travel is only 140 millimetres, just like the ETMO 500 EQ with PX motor and mudguards and pannier rack ex works for everyday use.
