In addition to the new Lector for 2016 Ghost also had a whole host of other MTB innovations to offer at the Eurobike Media Days. For 2016, a completely new frame platform will replace Ghost's classic, the AMR. There is also a new carbon trail hardtail: the Asket. Here are the individual Ghost mountain bikes for 2016 in detail:
The direct successor to the AMR LT will be the Ghost SlAMR in 27.5 inches. The new frame has been designed with 130/130 millimetres of suspension travel and thus appeals to sporty touring bikers. The rear triangle and kinematics of the SlAMR are based on the four-bar linkage of the Riot. The angular design used on the Riot and Letor can also be found on the SlAMR. The result is a comfortable all-mountain bike whose frame is also the basis for the longer-travel SlAMR X and FrAMR bikes. The frame will be available in five models as a carbon version (carbon main frame) and in three bikes as an aluminium version. Ghost has said goodbye to plain bearings for its new frame platform. Special ball bearings, which also cope well with tilting loads, are used in the rear triangle. The shift, brake and dropper post cables are all fully integrated into the frame. The geometry is modern and balanced, with a low standover height and long reach. A new, revised X12 thru-axle adapter is used at the rear of the brake mount. It is designed to absorb the braking forces and fixes the brake directly to the thru-axle. All Slamr bikes - whether carbon or aluminium - come ex works with dropper posts with integrated cable routing and Fox suspension.
Ghost's SlAMR X with its 150/145 millimetre stroke will play a league above the Riot in the future. It uses exactly the same frame as the SlAMR, only the lower shock mount is rotated and can therefore accommodate shocks with a longer stroke. On the SlAMR X, 145 millimetres are squeezed out of the rear triangle. At the front, the SlAMR X has lowerable forks with 34 mm stanchions in the head tube, while the rear triangle has shocks with reservoirs. Two models with carbon main frames and two SlAMR X bikes with aluminium frames will be available for 2016.
Marcus Klausmann's first choice for enduro races. The FrAMR is the bike from the new AMR platform with the most suspension travel. 160 millimetres of suspension travel, two models with a carbon main frame and two aluminium versions will be available in 2016. All FrAMR models have a shock with reservoir, a chain guide, 1x11 drivetrains and suspension forks with 34 or 35 mm stanchions. In addition, telescopic seat posts are standard on all four FrAMR models from Ghost.
All-mountain hardtail with 130 mm fork, telescopic seatpost and carbon frame. Ghost is targeting hardtail fans in baggy shorts who love rough terrain. Four 27.5-inch models are planned. A wide 760 cm cockpit is just as much a part of it as telescopic seatposts with internal cable routing and wide 2.35 mm tyres. The geometry should be playful, the riding position more upright like a classic race hardtail. Fox 34 suspension forks are used on all four models. The two expensive models are equipped with 1x11 drivetrains, the Asket 5 comes with the new Shimano XT with 2x11 gears and the entry-level model Asket 3 with 2x10 Shimano Deore/XT mix.
