Müsing also offers a lot of bike for the money with the new Petrol 3. If you want to decipher the type code: The 3 stands for the 29er chassis and 130 millimetres of travel.

The genetically related Petrol 5 has 27.5 mm wheels and 150 mm travel. The equipment makes you sit up and take notice. Complete XT groupset, Race Face cockpit, telescopic seat post, plus lightweight wheels with modern wide rims. As usual with Müsing, the equipment can be customised as desired. The test bike, customised in this way, costs 3080 euros - a fair price. The suspension shows the signature of developer Andreas Heimerdinger, who, by his own admission, prefers riding downhill to uphill. The rear offers enormous comfort. The Petrol has a wide feel-good range as you hurtle downhill with confidence. Thanks to the 770 handlebars, you retain control and an overview. However, nothing works uphill without a platform. The shock absorbs under chain tension and generally requires high air pressure.


Conclusion: stylish bike with high-quality equipment. Despite the fast wheels, it is more downhill-orientated than marathon-compatible.

The alternative The Petrol 5 model rolls on 27.5-inch wheels and can also be customised. The aluminium chassis then has 150 mm suspension travel. If you want even more: Petrol 7 with 170 mm.
