The Merida One-Twenty is the best-selling MTB fully in the Taiwanese bike manufacturer's stable. Because the product managers at Merida have realised how the demands on touring bikes have changed in recent years, they have given their bestseller a new frame.
From now on, the bike should not only perform particularly well on tours but also on moderate single trails. The new One-Twenty will continue to generate 120 millimetres of travel at the rear. However, a 130 millimetre fork is intended to flatten the steering angle slightly and thus significantly improve the riding characteristics on single trails.
As with all full-suspension bikes, Merida also uses the so-called Float-Link rear suspension with a floating shock on the One-Twenty. The bike is supplied with 29er wheels in all frame sizes. For sizes S and M, the customer also has the option of ordering smaller 27.5-inch wheels instead.
The full carbon frame should weigh 2100 grams without the shock. The carbon frames with aluminium rear triangle and the complete aluminium frames will be significantly heavier. According to the manufacturer, the test bike we rode weighed 12.5 kilos and, like all new One Twenty models, will be available in shops from the end of March 2019.
