Merida is launching a completely new full-suspension range with 120 millimetres of travel in 2010. The top model of the One-Twenty series meets the illustrious competition for the first time. The chassis is made of aluminium using sophisticated hydroforming technology, which gives it a unique look. There are no thru axles or tapered head tubes like some of the competition. On the scales, the frame and shock have the highest weight in the test. On the other hand, the stiffness is very high, which makes the model ideal for heavy and tall riders.

Merida wants to offer a bike for any terrain that doesn't need any fiddling - and they've succeeded. The One Twenty offers a sporty riding position (long stem) and overall unobtrusive handling. It rides very well both uphill and downhill, without specialisation. The test riders were only bothered by the thin grips. Plus points for the powerful brakes and the light wheels (which are not suitable for wider tyres). If you set the shock to a sporty (hard) setting, the characteristics don't look as congruent in practice as they do on the test bench, and the rear end is firm. Less air pressure and therefore more SAG means more ride comfort.
