Last year Lapierre the Overvolt Carbon with extremely deep batterybut with an unconventional look. The carbon fibre bullet will continue to be available, but for the new season the French are focusing on integration: Lapierre is planting the Powertube battery in the Bosch Overvolt. Lapierre is also offering a new e-mountain bike with a Shimano motor and Snake battery (EMTB reported) on. Downhill legend Nico Vouilloz played a key role in the development of both bikes.
The 150-millimetre fully is available from dealers on Plus tyres from Maxxis and can be ridden with 27.5 and 29-inch wheels thanks to rotating dropouts. There is also a sporty version with 120 millimetres of suspension travel and 29-inch tyres. The aluminium bikes all have the Bosch Performance CX motor and the new Powertube battery with 500 Wh. As with its big carbon brother, the OSt rear triangle is also used here, and a special chain guide is designed to keep the chain securely on the chainring. The geometry is modern, but not overly aggressive: 66 degree head angle, 444 millimetre reach (in L) and 460 or 470 mm chainstays.
The long-stroke AM will be available in four versions from October, the XC model only in one. The suspension on the higher-end models is from Rock Shox, while the gears are from Sram. All AM bikes also have powerful Sram Guide RE brakes with 200 discs and a Vario seat post. Prices start at 4400 and end at 6000 euros.
The Overvolt AM with Shimano drive is even more exciting. This is fuelled by the Snake battery (EMTB reported)also with 500 Wh. The flexible energy reservoir can be removed from the down tube through a small opening. The battery can be charged both inside and outside the frame. The start button is located on the top tube.
There are two different versions to choose from: a 160 mm model series with Plus tyres from Maxxis and a 140 mm version with wide 29er tyres from Schwalbe. The geometry is modern: The 29er has a 67 mm head angle, 460 mm chainstays and a 454 mm reach in L. The Enduro model with 160 millimetres of travel is geared a little more towards downhill riding: 65.5 mm head angle, 445 mm chainstays and a 459 mm reach, also in L.
From next year, Lapierre will be offering five equipment variants. The top models have exclusive Fox Factory suspension and high-quality add-on parts such as electronic Shimano XT gears. The entry-level model has an SR Suntour suspension fork and Shimano Deore gears. Unfortunately, prices and delivery times are not yet known.
