For 4699 euros, the new Focus Jam 8.9 is the second cheapest all-mountain bike in the test. It is particularly in its element downhill.

We were able to take a closer look at the completely new Jam, which has a carbon main frame and an aluminium rear triangle. The all-mountain bike comes with solid Shimano XT components, DT Swiss aluminium wheels and Fox Performance suspension. The developers have paid attention to useful details such as a storage compartment integrated into the down tube. This can be used to store a small bag for the most important spare parts and tools. As with other Focus models, the cables and lines run through the special stem. This ensures a clean look, but makes it more difficult to route the cables and adjust the cockpit height. Despite the use of carbon fibre for the main frame, the scales for the frame without the shock only stop at just under 3500 grams. When fully assembled, the scales show a whopping 16 kilos - the highest value in this test.

CONCLUSION on the Focus Jam 8.9:

The new Jam is in its element, especially downhill. However, the excessively high frame and overall weight limits its versatility and also makes the all-mountain bike cumbersome.
