It couldn't be cooler. The test crew were unanimous on this point. The GT looks great, stands out from the crowd with its frame layout and design and appeals to anyone who wants a special bike.

Unfortunately, the simple equipment does not prolong the good first impression. The fork and wheels are heavy, the front wheel had play ex works and the freewheel on the rear wheel capitulated after just half a test lap. According to GT, this is a known problem that has already been fixed for the series. While the suspension makes a good, drive-neutral impression on the climbs, it doesn't deliver what the long suspension travel promises on the descents. The damping adjustment range on the fork is not sufficient and the rear end feels a little lifeless. At the same time, the GT steers great, the geometry fits very well, the frame is extremely stiff - the ingredients for a very good bike are definitely there.

ConclusionThe cool look doesn't hide the weaknesses of the equipment. GT needs to improve the weight and wheels!

PLUS Cool bike, unusual look, five frame sizes, basically likeable handling
MINUS No quick-release saddle, weak equipment, heavy frame and fork, mediocre wheel quality

The alternative
As the Elite is the entry-level model in the Sensor range, the alternative can only be a more expensive model. The Sensor Expert (3199 euros) also offers a telescopic seat post and Race Face cranks.
