The X stands for the 150 version. Like its siblings, it has an extremely stylish aluminium frame with an elegant design. Ghost doesn't skimp on the equipment either. XT groupset (11-42 cassette), wide rims, mixed tyres suitable for touring, Tele seatpost, Fox Float X shock and the 34 mm Talas fork. Lowering the fork helps on steep climbs because it shifts the rider's weight forwards. However, it does not help when climbing as the SL AMR is comparatively heavy. To prevent the rear end from bottoming out, the platform on the shock is engaged, and the chassis is not at the forefront when it comes to drive efficiency. Downhill, on the other hand, the bike shines with its successful handling, the geometry fits, it can also cope with high speeds and feels safe. The suspension works well, but we couldn't recognise the advantage of the large shock. Weaknesses: Weight, efficiency, stiffness.
ConclusionGreat looks, great equipment, but the SL AMR X7 is a bit heavy for sporty tours.
The alternative: The FR AMR offers more suspension travel. Such as the FR AMR 7 for 3199 euros with Fox 36 fork (160 mm) and XT drivetrain.
