The SL AMR emphasises Ghost's mission to say goodbye to air shocks across the board. All SL AMR models therefore come with a steel spring damper.

The unusual approach in this spring travel class is primarily aimed at user-friendliness. Once the correct spring rate has been found, there is no need for regular re-inflation. However, the downside of the steel spring is the weight. The Ghost Pilot has to carry around half a kilo more, which results in the highest total weight in the test. In combination with the poorly rolling tyres, uphill effort is required. The extremely steep seat tube angle creates a lot of pressure on the front wheel despite the short chainstays, but keeps the seat length very compact. Without the effective platform, the rear end pumps slightly. Downhill, the steeled shock reveals its full potential. The rear suspension responds finely, literally sticks to the ground and works well. Only in rough sections does the short stroke become apparent. In addition to the successful handling, the significantly higher stiffness of the new frame is striking.

Test summary: Handling and rear suspension quality are at a very high level. However, the weight slows the Ghost SL AMR down noticeably on the climbs. No bike in this test is heavier.

Ghost SL AMR 6.7 AL: A question of philosophy. The steel shock requires less maintenance and is sensitive, but weighs around 500 grams more than an air shock. If the rider's weight changes by more than five kilos (e.g. heavy rucksack), a different spring may be required.Photo: Daniel Simon Ghost SL AMR 6.7 AL: A question of philosophy. BIKE judgement VERY GUT²

¹Price plus costs for packaging, despatch and coordination if applicable
²The BIKE judgement reflects the laboratory measurements and the subjective impression of the test riders. The BIKE judgement is independent of price.
BIKE judgements: super (250-205 P.), very good (204.75-170 P.), good (169.75-140 P.), satisfactory (139.75-100 P.), with weaknesses, unsatisfactory. The weighting of the points in the individual assessment criteria varies depending on the bike category.
