Focus Vamp
The Focus "Vamp" is particularly appealing to beginners thanks to its relaxed riding position. The high-quality, harmonious equipment, on the other hand, can withstand hard use. The high weight is a brake.

In contrast to the provocative model name "Vamp", the Focus is more of a relaxed, comfortable tourer with a "boring" (tester's quote) ornate design. The dignified riding position suits newcomers in particular, who can master tours lasting several hours on the bike without risking postural damage. On the other hand, the (too) short top tube in combination with the high front is less suitable for sporty, ambitious female riders. The geometry leaves little room for a sporty pace. In contrast to the cosiness is the short suspension travel of 100 millimetres at the fork and just 96 millimetres at the rear, which could work a little more sensitively. The enormous chassis weight of three kilos leads to the highest total weight. At 12.7 kilos, the Focus lacks light-footedness in terms of handling and propulsion. The true strength of the "Vamp" lies in the quality of the equipment. A high-quality, powerful brake combined with a Mavic "Crossride" wheelset and "X.9" shifting components can be described as above average in this price range, the combination leaves nothing to be desired. In addition, the Fizik saddle, which was perceived as very comfortable, and the tyres suitable for all-round use scored points with all three testers.

CONCLUSIONThe Focus "Vamp" is particularly appealing to beginners thanks to its relaxed riding position. The high-quality, harmonious equipment, on the other hand, can withstand hard use. The high weight is a brake.
