With a fighting weight of 14.7 kilos, the Felt Compulsion has strayed into the all-mountain class. The suspension travel fits into this category, but the spec looks suitable for enduro. For the climbs on the test lap, the motto was: lower the fork (awkward with the U-turn system), switch on the platform and keep calm. The chunky tyres take a lot of effort, but they rub well over the rocks on the following descent. The frame construction is confidence-inspiringly robust (heavy), which also applies to the Pike fork with thru-axle (also heavy) and the heavy wheels. Perfect for powerful riders who want to let it rip.
CONCLUSIONS: Developed for rough terrain. With the Compulsion, Felt is targeting the enduro category rather than ambitious touring riders.
TUNING TIP: No tunnelling required for rough use.
