BIKE-ASSESSMENT²: Ellsworth delights (USA) fans with its patriotic look. Even the (comfortable!) Stars and Stripes saddle matches. But it carries the burden of being the heaviest bike in this comparison. The comfortable riding position on the climbs is pleasing and the fork can be lowered from the handlebars. But the brakes let up on the long descents, the fork doesn't work reliably - sometimes it hardens, sometimes it sags. You don't feel fully secure. Watch out: You need valve extensions for the carbon rims, otherwise you'll look stupid in the event of a puncture. Wider tyres would suit the concept even better!
CONCLUSIONS: Classic all-mountain for individualists.
