Long range and plenty of suspension travel: all-mountain bikes are the all-rounders among e-MTBs, and rightly so. Their geometry is also suitable for long tours, yet the wide-ranging bikes are also really strong in difficult terrain - whether steeply uphill or at full throttle downhill. No wonder that this versatile category is particularly popular with EMTB readers. In the 2024 readers' poll, a very special candidate secures the contested title among the super tourers with one compelling argument in particular: the Rotwild R.X 1000 with the Pinion MGU with integrated twelve-speed gearbox.
The ultimate carefree bike? This title could go to Rotwild with the new R.X 1000 in 2024. And Rotwild's approach also convinced the participants in our large reader survey.
Because with the R.X 1000 the Dieburger combine the proven geometry of the uncomplicated All Mountains R.X 750 with the new MGU from Pinion and a whopping 960 watt hours in the battery. Range anxiety should therefore be a thing of the past.
Thanks to the combined motor and gearbox unit, Pinion also eliminates the need for wear-prone and high-maintenance derailleur gears. Even after many thousands of kilometres, gear changes should still be as smooth as on the first day.
A comfortable chassis with 150 millimetres of travel, geometry for long tours in the high mountains and high-quality equipment round off the package and turn the Rotwild into a very capable all-mountain bike, even with a Pinion motor. As our test shows.

With the One55, Cube landed a real smash hit at the beginning of 2023. Instead of a solid geometry and moderate price tag, the new series is all about performance. The frame and 150-millimetre suspension are designed to be correspondingly aggressive and the new Super Cube performs correspondingly well in our tests, especially downhill.
Cube's most expensive carbon fibres from the cross-country race bikes reduce the weight of the One55 to 22.6 kilograms in the top version. And this despite a classically removable and quite heavy 750 Powertube battery. If you want, you can also ride the bike with a 500 battery and save another 1.2 kilograms. Cube has developed a special adapter for the shorter battery, which also has space for a tube and some tools.
The Cube Stereo Hybrid One55 is available in three versions for 6999, 7999 and 9999 euros, with the middle version, the One55 TM, leaning more towards enduro than the other two candidates.

Nasty climbs, fun on flatter trails, the steepest downhills: this is where the Rapcon PMax with Bosch's CX motor is in its element. In short: A true all-mountain bike without compromise, as shown by the test victory in our competitive test field of the best all-mountain E-MTBs.
This is made possible not least by the modern geometry with an extremely steep seat angle, which allows the bike to climb excellently despite the short chainstays. The short rear then pays off on the downhill and gives the Simplon direct handling despite its slack head angle and smooth ride.
Unusually for a Bosch bike, the battery is pulled downwards out of the frame and can therefore be changed on tour if necessary. Compared to a classic battery removal, this saves weight, making the Simplon compatible with smaller Bosch batteries with 500 or 625 watt hours and really light overall.
Chic: At Simplon, the equipment can be configured extensively, but prices start at 8999 euros. Top-of-the-range equipment even costs around 13,000 euros.

Almost 4000 EMTB readers voted for their favourites in our big reader survey between February and May 2024. As the selection of bikes had to be finalised at the beginning of February, we were unable to include some of the latest models. A lot has happened, especially in the new category of lightweight power bikes, which also fall into the all-mountain league with a weight of around 20 kilograms, compact batteries and medium suspension travel.
