Duel of the e-giants: Haibike Flyon versus M1 Spitzing
In terms of maximum power, the TQ motor puts all other E-MTB motors in the shade. Does that make sense off-road? And who builds the best power e-bike? Haibike Flyon vs. M1 Spitzing - a duel between two powerhouses.

If you take a seat on an e-mountainbike with a TQ motor and switch to full support, you will easily reach the 25 km/h limit even on moderate climbs. The TQ HPR 120S powerhouse pushes bikes and riders up steep climbs like no other motor on the market. But is that still mountain biking? And how long does the e-bike battery last with such brute power? We tested the new edition of the Spitzing from the Bavarian manufacturer M1 Sporttechnik and the Haibike Flyon asked to a duel.

Even on his very first tour, he focussed on single trails - and even after more than 30 years in the saddle of an MTB, these are still the quintessence of biking for him. He spent his youth competing in various bike disciplines and later his cycling career was characterised by years as a riding technique coach. Professionally, the experienced test editor now focusses on e-mountainbikes. In recent years, the qualified sports scientist and trained journalist has tested over 300 bikes and more than 40 different motor systems in the laboratory and in practice.
