BIKE-ASSESSMENT²: Cube has created a sporty all-mountain bike that doesn't look like it can do anything. Proven but heavy aluminium suspension meets lightweight carbon wheels, expensive carbon cranks and an ergonomic cockpit. Climbing is sporty, but the fork can only be lowered slightly using the handlebar lever. Compared to the long-travel bikes in this test group, the suspension's downhill performance is limited. On steep sections, the fork dips deeply, and the "R1" brake showed fading on the 700 metre descent. The straight seatpost moves the riding position forwards and makes it very short. The seat frame and post clamp do not harmonise, there is no adjustment range - easy to fix.
CONCLUSIONS: Cube's tuning "AMS" is more of a marathon racer than a downhill talent.
